Joselyn and her family have been working at La Chelita farm for 20 years and at the wet mill for 10 years. The farm is located in the south of Costa Rica, in a canton called Coto Brus, an area characterised by being mountainous, humid with very fertile soils and on the border with coffee farms from Panama.
La Chelita currently buys cherries from its neighbours who do not have the infrastructure to process the coffee. Josh says: “While we are not a cooperative ourselves, we believe in the power of collective. We understand and have lived experiences of what it means to be a coffee farmer in this region and, together with our community, we want to build a better industry. And it starts by paying our partner farmers a fair price for their cherries”. This lot comes from a good friend of the family who owns a farm near La Amistad National Park where he grows Geisha and Costa Rica 95 varieties.
