Genji Challa was born out of the need to expand the Nano Challa washing station in 2019. There are now more than 200 members divided between the two washing stations. Farmers cultivate at 1850-2100 meters and on average own about 3 hectares. Part of this growth is due to the Technoserve Coffee initiative, a project that provides technical assistance and training to groups of producers, and has also helped cooperatives like Nano Challa to switch from processing natural to washed coffees by building washing stations.
