The Mutheka Farmers Cooperative Society is made up of more than 6,000 producers, of which around 650 use the Kamuyu station. The station generates its own hydro electricity through the Kagumo River. Smallholder farmers delivering cherries to the Kamuyu factory have an average of 200 coffee trees. The Cooperative is known for its meticulous sorting through the whole process. The washing process is carried out with a double fermentation of 48 hours and then an extra 24 hours, this produces a deep sweetness and a more complex acidity.
