Very sweet with honey aftertaste.
To the northwest of Butare in the Kbumbwe sector, we find the Bwenda washing station surrounded by hills and rice fields. The station was acquired by RTC (Rwanda Trading Company) in 2019 and has been managed by Eric ever since. Three people work full time at the washing station including Eric, although they are assisted by around 60 workers during the harvest season. The cherries come from small producers with farms of about 3 hectares. It is estimated that a quarter of the producers are young people under 25 years of age.
