This coffee is produced by Ayele Begshaw Yemiru, an experienced coffee farmer and community leader in the Aricha kebele, Yirgacheffe. Since beginning his journey in the coffee industry in 2011, Ayele has focused on revitalizing his farms by replacing older plants with new varieties, improving crop quality, and maintaining sustainable farming practices.
The harvest, which occurs from October to December, involves meticulous handpicking to ensure only ripe, uniform cherries are collected. These cherries are carefully processed using the natural method, enhancing the coffee’s exceptional flavor profile.
Ayele is committed to sustainability by using natural compost-based fertilizers and planting diverse tree species on his farm to preserve the local ecosystem.
Despite facing challenges in accessing international markets, Ayele is grateful for the opportunity to share his coffee with the world, showcasing the unique quality of Yirgacheffe coffees. Projects like this not only connect farmers like Ayele with new markets but also support sustainable initiatives that enable them to continue producing high-quality coffees.
These efforts contribute to unique sensory experiences while building a brighter future for their communities.
