Joyabaj is a highland community in central Guatemala. Historically, producers have grown their crops without technical support and relied on middlemen to sell their production. In 2019, the Specialty Coffee Federation of Guatemala built a washing station in the area. Harvesting takes place from January to April under an agroforestry system, where citrus, bananas and other crops are also grown. Soil conservation and organic fertilization practices are implemented to improve quality.
