Ethiopia Korate
The Washed Station, located in Dara Woreda at an altitude of approximately 2,050 meters above sea level, operates in one of the highest and most favorable areas of Sidamo for the production of high-quality coffee. Its high-altitude location, combined with a cool and stable climate, allows the cherries to ripen slowly and contributes to the production of clean, well-structured coffees.
The Washed station also Washed closely with small local producers, providing them with a centralized facility for coffee processing and promoting practices focused on quality, consistency, and traceability.
The Sidamo region, located in southern Ethiopia, is one of the most renowned and prestigious origins of specialty coffee worldwide.
Its coffee-growing regions are located primarily between 1,500 and 2,200 meters above sea level, in a highland landscape characterized by rolling hills, natural forests, and traditional agroforestry systems. The climate is temperate and
relatively stable, with moderate temperatures, well-distributed rainfall, and well-defined dry seasons.
The soils of Sidamo are predominantly volcanic, deep, and rich in organic matter, with good drainage, which contributes to the development of dense, complex beans. Production is based primarily on native Ethiopian (heirloom) varieties, which are naturally adapted to the environment and grown by smallholder farmers on family plots, typically under shade.
