The Washed station where this coffee comes from was founded in 2009, located on the shores of Lake Kivu, processes cherries grown in the hills surrounding the lake, at high altitude, on volcanic soil. The plant is equipped with a pulper, fermentation tanks and drying beds. It receives coffees from more than 1,500 farmers.
The coffee is delivered to the station, where it is floated and the unripe cherries are removed. The coffee is then taken to raised beds where it is dried for 20-25 days.
