For Rosa Elisa Morales Sampieri, coffee is not just a crop—it is a living legacy. She grew up in a family where farm work was intertwined with values, traditions, and a sense of community. From a young age, she learned, alongside her father and brothers, that coffee is cultivated with one’s hands, but also with one’s heart.
One of the moments he cherishes most is sharing daily chores with his family and the animals that live with them. On those days, the effort feels effortless, and the work becomes a source of connection and joy.
Despite challenges such as climate change and labor shortages, Rosa Elisa presses on and keeps the family legacy alive.
Among its most cherished traditions is the “widow’s festival,” a celebration marking the end of the harvest. Family members and workers gather to share a meal and give thanks for the season. A truck decorated with coffee branches and flowers picks everyone up from the fields and takes them back home, in a gesture full of symbolism and gratitude.
Rosa Elisa's dream is to continue growing, create more opportunities for the families around her, and ensure that coffee is recognized not only as a product, but as an expression of hard work, community, and love for the land.
