Peru Marcelino Chinguel

Don Marcelino Chinguel has been growing coffee for most of his life—more than forty years. Despite this, he is always open to exploring new ideas and changing his way of thinking, and this lot embodies that spirit. It is the first lot produced from the “ Variety ” Marshell variety that Marcelino planted on his “ Farm ” in 2018.

At his “ Farm,” La Lúcuma, he lives with his family, who handle most of the work, hiring only eight pickers during harvest season. Within the family, the workload is divided among different areas of responsibility. Marcelino handles administration and sales; his wife manages post-harvest protocols; Franclin, the eldest son, supervises the harvest; and the youngest son, Yocner, is in charge of quality control.

This batch is processed naturally. After harvesting, the cherries are sorted by hand, floated, and left to rest for 16 hours before being spread out to dry on raised beds in the solar dryer for approximately 20 to 30 days.
