Rwanda, Rutsiro
The Rutsiro region, located in Rwanda's western province on the shores of Lake Kivu, is one of the country's main coffee-producing areas and ranks second in terms of coffee-growing area.
Their farms primarily grow Arabica coffee, including varieties such as Bourbon, Catuaí, and Caturra. The nutrient-rich volcanic soils, combined with elevations of around 1,800 meters above sea level, create an exceptional microclimate that promotes slow ripening of the beans. This process results in coffees with a balanced, sweet, and elegant profile.
The coffee is processed using a traditional washed method, which enhances its clean flavor profile and sweet notes, making it an ideal choice for a balanced and expressive espresso.
At Puchero, we pay special attention to these types of coffees during the roasting process. Jaime and Lukas, our roasters, develop a specific profile for this origin, focused on bringing out its maximum sweetness, balance, and character.
